Student Field Guide Assignment ( 250 pt.)

In groups of no more than two, students will work to compile for presenting during the last week(s) of class, visual “Field Guide” on the topics of PA Non-flowering plants, Wildflowers, Trees and shrubs, Insects, Fish, Reptiles, Amphibians, Birds, and Mammals

General Guidelines:

  1. To earn a good grade, do a little more than just type your topic in google and work off of the first entries you find. Look over/try to use some of the  popular field guides and journals from in the same area. Read books or scientific articles that relate to your topic to see how this information may enhance  your field guide.

  1. Cite your sources at the end of your paper, APA format ( Include all the necessary information, if you need help with how to cite websites or other non-print sources, check out any good style manual in the library or online ( or ask me!).

Specific requirements:

  1. You must use at least 4 sources ( NOT Wikipedia or other internet encyclopedia resources). Make sure you include citations of your sources at the end of your paper.

  1. The hand out for the class should be something useable and educational or your classmates and instructor. There is no limit on words or pages ( must include a title page and bibliography).  Handout needs to be double spaced using a regular font.

  1. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!! Use your own words and cite your sources of information within your paper!! Paper that consist of a long series of direct quotes strung together or of paragraphs that were cut and pasted from the web are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Find information from several sources, digest it, and write your own product. Make sure you give credit to your sources by providing a bibliography of sources used in preparation of your paper. Cutting and pasting paragraphs from the web and turning it in as your own paper = plagiarism and will earn you a zero on this assignment. If you have questions about this, please ask!! Before submitting your work please check it at the following link to be sure. ( )
